Eleven people, including a baby, were hospitalised on Tuesday night following a fire at an apartment block in avenida de Sudamérica in Jerez de la Frontera.
The fire began on the eleventh floor of a block of twelve apartments at around 21:30 and firefighters had to rescue fifteen people who had taken refuge on the roof. The whole building was subsequently evacuated.
The fire started in a bedroom which was totally destroyed in the blaze. Eleven people were hospitalised as a result of smoke inhalation, these including four children and a four-month-old baby.
Residents from the first nine floors were later allowed back to their homes, the remainder were advised not to return.
