A burglar broke into a house in Jaén and made off with a number of electrical items, including a video recorder and some tapes, but was apparently so appalled by what he saw on the camera that he notified the police.
The unidentified burglar called the police from a payphone and informed them of what he had found. He wrote an anonymous note to the police, containing the address of his victim, and placed the note and the camera and tapes under a car for them to find.
The video tapes contained images of the home owner allegedly sexually abusing children under the age of ten years.
Police carried out preliminary investigations and then raided the home of the alleged paedophile. They also raided the soccer club where he worked and where he allegedly won the confidence of the children at the sports complex and convinced them to watch pornographic films with him before later sexually assaulting them.
The man had reported the break-in to the police but had omitted to mention the theft of the videos and camera. He has been remanded in preventative custody.
