Mijas Council has introduced stricter controls on private Christmas and New Year parties or celebrations, a measure adopted as a consequence of the Madrid Arena tragedy.
The Council has said it will not tolerate or permit profit-driven events that do not have the necessary municipal permits, do not comply with current regulations and do not have all safety measures . The holding of events in public spaces, such as municipal facilities and parks, is prohibited.
Premises wishing to hold such events must be specifically authorised for the purpose, licensed, cannot be held where public influx is likely to result in capacity being exceeded and liability insurance must be in place. In addition, a private security service must be employed.
