On Saturday, the Guardia Civil rescued two climbers who were attempting to climb the Pico del Caballo in the Sierra Nevadas but found themselves unable to reach the mountain shelter and also unable to make a descent due to a lack of crampons.
The couple raised the alarm at 20:00 on Friday afternoon after they found themselves in difficulty at an altitude of 2,550 metres.
The Mountain Rescue team located the two climbers at 05:00 on Saturday morning and provided them with crampons and warm clothing as they were not in possession of adequate clothing for such an endeavour. One of the climbers had been injured as a result of a fall and was showing signs of hypothermia.
The rescue was completed at 08:30 on Saturday morning when they successfully reached the rescue vehicles.
