When work began on the botanical gardens in the grounds of the Nerja Caves, the old road/track between the Caves and the village of Maro was demolished. It was decided to build a bridge over the highway to connect the two areas.
This was eventually accomplished, despite many delays due to a long-lasting and often bitter party political battle for control of the Nerja Caves, although it rarely seems to be open.
Now, the Council has approved an amendment to the original botanical garden project which will permit the construction of a new track between the Caves and the village of Maro.
This new track will basically follow the route of the original track but will be more elevated to allow panoramic views of the botanical garden. The amendment has all the necessary favourable technical reports and a municipal building licence. The completion period for this project has been set at six months.
John Hill says:
So will the bridge remain closed permanently? This is where my apartment is and if it’snot used it will become derelict and obsolete.
