At the plenary session of the Málaga Provincial Council, the Mayor of Nerja, José Alberto Armijo, took the floor to defend and expound the virtues of the project to build residential homes and a hotel, along with a golf course, in the municipality.
The Mayor pointed out that thirty years ago the Council proposed a residential, hotel and sporting complex within the rules prevailing at the time and also covered by the current PGOU (General Plan).
Ten years ago the Council disposed of the land for this purpose with the approval of the Junta de Andalucia. The Mayor pointed out that when the owner took steps to develop the land, the Junta de Andalucia, by means of the POTAX, declared the land protected.
The Mayor went on to say that the Supreme Court has recently ruled in favour of the municipality of Nerja in the matter, meaning that the land is developable and that the golf course project is once again on the agenda.
