The Council has approved a motion to request the General Secretariat for Integral Management of the Environment and Water of the Ministry of Environment and Spatial Planning, dependencies of the Junta de Andalucia, to clean up an unauthorised rubbish dump on the border of Nerja and Frigiliana.
Residents in the area have been complaining about the unsightly tip which, reportedly, has been accumulating for a decade. This unauthorised tip is located in the Barranco de El Viejo on the border between Nerja and Frigiliana.
The Council first clarified whether the tip was actually in Nerja or Frigiliana. The entire landfill turned out to be in the municipality of Nerja.
The Council then investigated the ownership of the land in question, whether it was privately or publicly owned. It turned out to be publicly owned by the General Secretariat for Integral Management of the Environment and Water, according to the Council.
As a result, the Council is requesting the General Secretariat for Integral Management of the Environment and Water to take the appropriate measures to provide a solution to the situation.
