Police have so far arrested seven people in connection with the kidnapping of a businessman in Galicia last Monday.
The businessman was kidnapped on Monday in Betanzos and was being held in Xar, a village near Lalín, Pontevedra, the kidnappers demanding a ransom of €70,000 for his release. He was kept handcuffed and with a hood over his head.
However, a police operation resulted in his release and seven people have so far been detained, several of them with criminal records relating to express kidnappings.
Two of the gang members were detained on Friday morning after they rammed a police vehicle in the town of Melide.
