On Monday, two hikers had to be rescued after becoming lost while walking along the rio Chillar in Nerja.
As the skies darkened, one of the hikers suffered several falls resulting in a number of injuries. He was also suffering from heart problems. Members of the Guardia Civil Mountain Rescue Team (Ereim), local Guardia Civil and Local Police officers and volunteers mounted a rescue operation.
The two hikers were located at 22:00 in the Las Lomas area of the rio Chillar. The man suffering the heart problems had to be carried to one of the rescue vehicles before being transferred to the Health Centre.
On Tuesday, a mother and her son were hiking near the río Higuerón when the woman suddenly began suffering from dizziness and vomiting.
Due to the gravity of the situation, the rescue team requested helicopter support and a chopper from Granada arrived quickly on the scene to evacuate the woman. She was then taken by ambulance to the district hospital in Vélez-Málaga.
