The Council has started proceedings to convert the house of Giner de los Rios, located in calle Carabeo, into a house-museum to the poet.
The next plenary session will debate, and undoubtedly approve due to an absolute majority, a proposal to amend the PGOU (General Plan) to change the classification of the 1,910 square metre plot to ‘social’.
Once this has been approved, the second step can begin, which is to open negotiations to reach a mutually advantageous agreement in order to avoid having to expropriate the property. Next will be to contact the Junta de Andalucia, Málaga Council and the Ministry of Culture for financial contributions to the project.
At the moment, the proposal only has the support of the ruling Partido Popular.
