The man arrested for allegedly killing his 51-year-old girlfriend and her 9-year-old daughter in urbanisation Sotogrande, Cádiz, on Wednesday was found dead on the floor of his cell this morning.
There were reportedly no signs of violence on the body and initial indications are that it was death by natural causes, although an autopsy will be carried out.
The detainee, 53-year-old Tony J.y.L, a Belgian national, was arrested after being found wandering the streets with various cuts on his body, some on his neck, on Wednesday. Shortly after, the bodies of his girlfriend and her daughter were discovered in the house they had shared for the past ten months.
In statements made to the investigators the detainee reportedly claimed that he had agreed with his partner that they would kill the young girl and then commit suicide, although this version of events has not been corroborated.
The incident is currently being classified as domestic violence.
