Andina Reges Pereira de Brito, a 35-year-old Brazilian national, was found dead on Monday in her apartment in Mungia, Bilbao, allegedly at the hands of her former partner.
The woman was found unconscious at home by her son when he came home for lunch from school at 13.15. The son called the Emergency Services who tried to revive the woman, but their attempts failed and she died at the scene.
Initial indications are that the woman died from strangulation. Within two hours police arrested the former partner as the prime suspect in the case.
Andina Reges Pereira de Brito had two sons, aged 10 and 15 years. She had recently ended the relationship with her partner who was reportedly not happy with the decision and she was also reportedly afraid of him due to his aggressive and controlling nature.
