Dolmen Museum is set to open its doors to the public in 2017

The Antequera Dolmen Museum is set to open its doors to the public in 2017 following an investment of €8 million of European funds.

The project began back in the eighties and construction of a Dolmen Interpretation Centre began in 1992. Dogged by delays, environmental impact and other problems, work ceased in 1999 after an investment of €3 million.

In 2004, a half-hearted attempt to revive the project as the Andalucian Interpretation Centre of Prehistory failed to get off the ground. Now, with new funds from the EU, the project is set to become the Antequera Dolmen Museum, with work expected to begin later this year or early next year.

The target is for the facility to open to the public in 2017.
