National Police have dismantled an illegal casino operating out of a villa in the Simón Verde residential area of Mairena del Aljarafe, Sevilla, hailing it as one of the most important interventions to take place in Andalucia during the past ten years in the fight against illegal gambling.
The investigation began six months ago, culminating in a police raid on the premises. There were ten poker tables operating and eleven players were busy gambling when the police arrived.
There were ten tables in the ‘casino’, and police seized €15,495 in cash and around €3.6 million in poker chips. The owners of the establishment now face administrative proceedings and fines of between €10,000 and €30,000.
