An 8-year-old boy is in a serious condition in the ICU of the Hospital Materno Infantil in Málaga after being hit by a car in Paseo de los Curas.
The accident happened just before 13:00 on Wednesday. The boy was with his parents and they were on a stopover from a cruise ship.
The family, American nationals, live in Germany and were on their way back to the cruise ship. It is thought that the father and their eldest child crossed the road first but just before the mother and youngest child were about to cross, the child apparently ran out into the road.
One car managed to avoid the child, but a second didn’t and the boy was hit and suffered severe head injuries. The driver, who was apparently driving within the speed regulations in force in the area, was routinely breathalised and the result was negative.
The family were apparently crossing the road a little way from a pedestrian crossing controlled by traffic lights.
