A 49-year-old woman who suffered 50% burns after being doused in gasoline and set alight by her former partner has been transferred to the Burns Unit of the Hospital Virgen del Rocio in Sevilla due to the severity of her wounds.
The incident occurred at 23:30 on Friday in the La Sirena bar on the road between Tacoronte and Tejina on the island of Tenerife. The former partner of the woman doused her and her 22-year-old daughter with gasoline and set them alight.
The former partner fled the scene but was later arrested. The two women were taken to the Hospital Universitario de Canarias. The daughter’s wounds are not as serious as those of her mother and she will remain in Tenerife.
