The mayor of Gerena, Sevilla, Margarita Gutiérrez (PSOE), announced her resignation on Friday after being convicted of a crime against public planning and receiving an eight year ban on holding public office.
The former mayor, Jacinto Pereira, three other PSOE Councillors and a Council Secretary were also convicted by the Criminal Court Number 12 and have also resigned after receiving similar bans.
