Initial expectations from the hotel industry for the Easter period are ‘optimistic’, with advance reservations up by 12% on last year and the forecast of good weather throughout the week suggesting overall occupancy rates of 85% in Andalucia, the best results for a decade.
Recovery in the domestic tourism market and an influx of international visitors are expected to result in occupancy rates of around 85% in coastal towns and perhaps 100% in major cities such as Sevilla and Málaga. The highest occupancy rate is anticipated in the period Thursday to Sunday.
If this optimism is converted into reality, this Easter will be the best, in economic terms, since the financial crisis began over seven years ago.
