National Police and Guardia Civil officers in Almeria have arrested six people suspected of being involved in the sexual exploitation of Dominican and Polish women.
The organisation either enticed women to Spain with the false promise of regular work, as with the Poles, or coerced existing residents, as was the case with the Dominicans, and then forced them to work in brothels in Roquetas de Mar. Those refusing or causing trouble were castigated by being held captive without food, sometimes for several days. only water being provided by the brothel keeper.
Three houses were also raided during the police investigation.
