The SAR helicopter that went down in the waters of the Canary Islands on March 19th 2014 has been found by a robot from the vessel ‘EDT Ares’ belonging to the company Phoenix International, specialists in deep sea rescues and recovery.
The helicopter was found at 03:00 on Sunday morning at a depth of 2,000 metres. Images transmitted by the robot of the interior of the helicopter apparently show the bodies of the four military personnel who died in the incident.
Those who tragically lost their lives in the accident were captain Daniel Pena, lieutenants Carmen Ortega and Sebastián Ruiz and sergeant Carlos Caramanzana. One crew member was rescued after the crash.
