For the first time in 48 years, Nuestro Padre Jesús Resucitado y María Santísima de la Asunción – Our Risen Lord Jesus and the Virgin of the Assumption – were unable to fulfill their Easter duties as the heavens opened up and the rains came down in torrents.
The procession had just begun, the head reaching calle Pintada, when the weather intervened and forced a hasty retreat – relatively speaking, considering the weight of the thrones – to the iglesia El Salvador on the Balcón de Europa.
