The IU has proposed a motion in the Senate to annul the sentence imposed on Blas Infante under the Franco regime and the fines imposed on his family after he was executed.
Blas Infante is considered the father of Andalucian autonomy and his daughter, María Ángeles, is president of the Blas Infante Foundation.
Blas Infante is recognised in the Statute of Autonomy for Andalucia but the judgements against his family, imposed four years after his execution, remain on the books.
