At around 19:00 on Wednesday, a jogger near the rio Genil in Granada city reported seeing a wild boar doing a bit of sightseeing and Local Police located and began to follow the animal.
At 21:00, the animal, a female weighing in the region of forty kilos, decided it was time for a break and headed into the bathroom facilities of the Bar El Volapie in calle de las Moras, near to the Teatro Isabel La Católica. It was eventually tranquilised at 23:30 and carefully taken to a centre in Pinos Genil at the entrance to the Sierra Nevada mountains.
Unfortunately, despite all the care taken to minimise risk to the animal and public during the incident, the wild boar reportedly later died at the centre.
