Ronda City Council has finally decided to cut its losses and amend the controversial ‘blue zone’ parking system after complaints from residents, meter breakdowns, malfunctioning of surveillance cameras and management difficulties.
When it was introduced, the system was touted one of the latest involving license plate recognition and full automation. However, the Council has decided upon the removal of the cameras, a return to the more traditional ticket dispenser, ticket display in car windows and a municipal employee to monitor and decide upon possible sanctions.
The same company will continue to administrate the system after the changes have been made. The Council apologises to residents for the numerous errors that have occurred with the current system.
