The 32-year-old man arrested for killing his 19-month-old son in Madrid on Sunday has attempted to hang himself in his cell in the Tetuán district of Madrid.
The man used his shirt in the attempt but officers saw what was happening and prevented it happening. The police reported, however, that at no time was the man’s life in any danger and the hanging attempt was viewed more as a ‘symbolic act’ by the detainee.
Security and surveillance has, nevertheless, been increased to prevent any more such incidents.
