Two octogenarian brothers plunged down a forty metre embankment in their small, fibreglass 50cc vehicle and survived to tell the tale.
The pair were travelling on the Los Montes road in Málaga province when they plunged down a steep embankment. The vehicle, which can be driven on a moped licence, was completely destroyed.
One of the brothers, aged 87 years, was thrown from the vehicle on impact and managed to climb up the 45 degree embankment and raise the alarm. The second brother was trapped inside the shattered vehicle.
The rugged terrain forced the firefighters to use mountaineering techniques to rescue the second brother who was bleeding from a head wound. He was brought up the embankment using a zip wire and a stretcher and taken to hospital.
The eldest brother was also taken to hospital to be treated for minor injuries.
