On Monday the Junta de Andalucia will set in motion a working committee to discuss and address the challenges and problems facing the strawberry industry in Huelva.
Among the challenges facing the industry is the competition from France and Italy and the good weather which has led to high yields. This has led to the fall in price of the Huelva strawberry.
The Minister of Agriculture stated that the committee will address issues such as the problem of spikes in production and steps being taken to constantly improve the quality and prestige of strawberry production in the province.
Participating in this project will be Interprofessional Strawberry (Interfresa), the Huelva Association of Producers and Exporters of Strawberries (Freshuelva, the agricultural organizations Asaja, COAG and UPA and the Andalucian Federation of Agricultural Cooperative Companies (Faeca).
