Two people have died and a woman is missing after a boat carrying eleven sub-Saharan migrants capsized off the Moroccan port of Tangier.
The incident took place near Ksar El Majaz Tangier. The eight other passengers were rescued. There were ten Cameroonians and one Ivorian on board the vessel when it set off for Spain.
According to the Moroccan authorities, they have reduced the number of attempts to reach mainland Spain by 95% during the past ten years. However, this has led to an increase in the number of attempts to break into the Spanish enclaves of Ceuta and Melilla.
Just today, some 500 migrants scaled the barriers and fences to gain entry into Melilla.
