The Department of Environment has organised a number of activities for Thursday June 5th to coincide with World Environment Day.
There is a Painting Studio for young children, the subject being the environment, with each participant receiving a plant.
There will be an awareness campaign on Burriana and Torrecilla beaches with volunteers handing out ecological ashtrays and brochures.
The Balcón de Europa will be the site of a tent dedicated to making people aware of the problems associated with not recycling cooking oils. Brochures will be handed out along with 500 bars of soap made from recycled oil.
There will be two tents on Burriana beach belonging to Crema/Aula del Mar (Centre for the Recuperation of Marine Species) with workshops for young and old.
Also on Burriana beach there will be seabed cleaning activities by the Aula del Mar and Nerja Dive Centre and, if applicable, the return to the sea of fish and/or turtles.
In addition, the provincial delegate for the Environment, Marina Bravo, will present to Nerja the project for a botanical garden n the Plaza de los Cangrejos/Torrecilla beach area.
