A fire is still active on a firing range at the Cerro Muriano military base in Córdoba, the blaze having started on Sunday.
The fire is believed to have been caused by munitions left over on the range after manoeuvres. Civilian units, fire teams and aircraft, are standing by at the perimeter of the base to assist if requested but are not allowed inside the base. Military firefighters are currently trying to extinguish the blaze.
The firefighting is made more difficult by the live munitions on the range and even waterbombers have to fly at altitudes higher than normal when operating over the range.
