A group of 25 Seniors from Nerja have taken part in an ‘active ageing’ workshop in Antequera, participating in such wide-ranging activities as laughter therapy, funny photos and preventing dementia.
The workshop took place in the La Vega residence in Antequera and was open to various associations in the province.
This is an initiative, promoted by the Málaga Provincial Council, that seeks to respond to the demands of older people who want to develop their skills and potential through active ageing.
The World Health Organization (WHO) defines active ageing as:
Active ageing is the process of optimizing opportunities for health, participation and security in order to enhance quality of life as people age. It applies to both individuals and population groups.
Active ageing allows people to realize their potential for physical, social, and mental well-being throughout the life course and to participate in society, while providing them with adequate protection, security and care when they need.
