The annual ‘summer sales’ begin today, Tuesday, in Málaga with discounts of up to fifty percent in many shops.
Forecasts are ‘optimistic’ and the Málaga Trade Federation anticipates a turnover of around €30 million, similar to last year, with average consumer expenditure being between €25 and €50 per person.
In 2012 the Government approved the deregulation of discount sales but around 80% of self-employed, small and medium businesses in Málaga still adhere to the traditional sales periods. This current ‘summer sale’ will continue until August 31st.
According to the Málaga Trade Federation, general sales have been pretty stagnant since the beginning of the year.
