An 18-year-old from Iceland died yesterday when his harness failed on the rollercoaster ride at the Terra Mitica theme park in Benidorm.
The incident occurred at around 17:30, the youth being flung from the ride which boasts 360 degree spins and speeds of up to 60 kph. He suffered multiple injuries and medics were unable to do anything to save his life.
The main hypothesis is that the young man flew out from his seat due to a “possible fault in the harness safety system,” which was supposed to hold him in place, and police investigators will now try to determine whether the harness “broke or came loose.”
