July 31st and August 1st are traditionally the busiest days of the year for travel as millions head off on holiday, so what better time for a rail strike.
ADIF had already called a 46 hour strike starting at 01:00 on July 31st until 23:00 on August 1st, and now the CCOO, representing RENFE workers, has also called for a stoppage from 01:00 on July 31st to 23:00 on August 1st. The UGT union has decided not to join in the protest.
ADIF are protesting about the outsourcing of various services, the CCOO are demanding more staff to cope with the current workload.
