The first half of 2014 apparently saw a record number of international tourists visiting Spain, according to the Ministry of Tourism.
There were 28 million international visitors from January to June, up by 7.3% on last year. Cataluña was the most popular destination, attracting 7.1 million foreign visitors during the period.
British tourists represented the largest group of visitors with 6.5 million, up by 5.8%, follwed by Germany with 4.6 million, up by 8.8%, and France with 4.2 million, up by 10.3%.
June itself was also a record month with 6.6 million arrivals, an increase of 4.5%.
Spain is the world’s third-largest tourist destination behind France and the USA.
