One has to wonder about the efficacy of restraining orders after 42-year-old María del Carmen Marín was stabbed and beheaded at her home in Berja, Almeria, allegedly by her ex-partner.
The former partner, a 31-year-old Moroccan national was the subject of a restraining order following a complaint of abuse made by the woman on June 25th 2014. He was not allowed within 200 metres of his former partner and until July 30th was under house arrest and guarded by the Local Police. The retraining order was valid until October 21st 2014.
The incident occurred at around 06:40 in calle Ramón y Cajal in Berja. María del Carmen Marín was stabbed 20 times and beheaded. The former partner is still at large.
María del Carmen Marín is the 32nd domestic violence fatality in Spain so far this year and the ninth in Andalucia.
