One person died and five others were injured on Sunday night following a gas explosion in an apartment block in Plaza de la Sal in the old town of Lleida.
The explosion occurred at 23:00 and the building was evacuated as a precautionary measure due to the presence of thick smoke.
The fire was extinguished and there does not seem to have been any structural damage to the building. Technicians from Repsol and the electricity company are now investigating the cause of the explosion.
The fatality was a woman who fell to her death during the fire. The other wounded only suffered mild injuries, mainly from smoke inhalation.
