The municipality of Humilladero, Málaga province, has been without drinking water since Saturday due to a broken water pump at the only functioning well in the area.
Leakage has contaminated the water and the 3,300 residents have been advised not to drink the tap water until repairs have been made. The mayor of the town has reportedly stated that the water is ‘totally safe’ for consumption but is ‘best avoided’.
Water is currently being shipped in by lorry. The repairs to the water pump could be completed by Thursday.
