An operation carried out by the Civil Guard and the Spanish Tax Office has led to the discovery of a sophisticated marijuana plantation installed in a bullring on an estate in Almogía, Málaga province.
The investigation began in July after it was discovered that the bullring was covered with a material conducive to the growing of marijuana. The area was divided into two large greenhouses and had an estimated capacity of around 10,000 plants.
The sophisticated site had special drying rooms for the plants and an elaborate watering system. At the time of the police raid, some 526 plants were in the process of being dried with the bulk of the crop already having been harvested.
Six people were arrested during the operation, three of them British nationals. Police seized over sixty kilos of drugs ready for distribution, drug-related paraphernalia, cars, motorcycles and cash.
