A forest fire which destroyed 100 hectares of land in Huelva earlier this week was started intentionally, according to the authorities.
The start of the fire has been traced to an area near a secondary road connecting between Aljaraque and Cartaya, from where it spread rapidly to be declared a ‘level 1’ incident. Local residents had to be evacuated as a precautionary measure.
Twenty air units were involved in battling the blaze, the smoke from which was visible for miles around and prompted over 250 calls to the authorities.
