One of the oldest women in Spain, Amparo Martín Alonso, has died in Palos de la Frontera, Huelva, at the age of 109 years.
Amparo Martín Alonso was born in Salamanca on November 6th 1906 and had one son, eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
She lived through one Republic, two dictatorships, a civil war and more than 30 years of democracy and voted in every election since women gained the right to vote in 1931.
Amparo Martín Alonso was the eleventh oldest person in Spain.
