The fourth annual clean-up of the rio Chillar was carried out on Sunday by a large number of volunteers, their ages ranging from 5 years to 70 years.
As in previous years, there were two routes available, one with a lower degree of difficulty to enable children to participate in this worthwhile exercise.
The walk along the rio Chillar to the waterfall and Los Cahorros is very popular, particularly during the summer, and, unfortunately, there are hikers whose concern for the environment and the beauty of the area is, shall we say, less than one would like to see.
Cans, bottles, plastic bags, foil and other items are left strewn along the route, often discarded without a second thought. This year, the volunteers collected over 700 kilos of such items.
