The latest opinion poll conducted by Demoscopia shows the PSOE ahead with 20.7% of the votes, five points ahead of the ruling PP and six ahead of the new party Podemos.
So, if an election were to be held now, there would likely be a PSOE government with the support of only 20.7% of the voting public. In other words, eight out of ten would be against them.
Of those polled, only 24% approved of Mariano Rajoy as Prime Minister. New PSOE leader Pedro Sanchez had the same approval rating of 24%.
Oh for the day (which will never come) when any government is made up of the people best qualified for a particular post rather than which club they belong to.
