The Nerja Caves is planning to enlarge the entrance to the facility, rearrange visitor traffic and rationalise group visits.
The Nerja Caves Foundation, which operates the site, approved an additional budget provision of €100,000 for this purpose.
The Nerja Caves Foundation is trying to improve the overall experience for visitors to the caves, including pre-visit videos, guided tours, audio guides and a free mobile application that can be downloaded to enhance the enjoyment of both the Caves and the Nerja Museum.
Some of the budgeted amount will also be used for further promotion of the Nerja Caves, one of the most popular tourist sites in Spain.
The Nerja Caves Foundation has also approved the basics for putting out to tender the position of Director of the Nerja Museum following the tragic death last August of Ana María Márquez.
