The Supreme Court has rejected the latest attempt by convicted money launderer Isabel Pantoja to avoid serving her two-year jail sentence and paying the imposed fine of €1,147,148.
The singer was convicted of money laundering as part of the ‘Malaya’ case in Marbella and the sentence of two years imprisonment and a fine of €1,147,148 was subsequently upheld.
Pantoja is running out of options. If she pays the fine, she could then request the suspension of the prison term and this is often viewed favourably by the Courts when the sentence is less than two years, as it is in this case. However, the fine has to be paid first.
