The Nerja Caves Foundation has decided to at least temporarily reinstate sacked archaeologist Antonio Garrido, thus complying with the ruling of the Labour Court Number 8 in Málaga to either reinstate the sacked employee or pay compensation of €86,903.36, this action to be carried out within five days of the judgement.
Antonio Garrido, aged 57, was sacked as curator of the Nerja Caves in June 2013 for what the Nerja Caves Foundation alleged was ‘a very serious breach of confidentiality’.
Although Garrido has been temporarily readmitted to the workforce, this reportedly does not mean that the Nerja Caves Foundation accepts the judgement, nor does it preclude an appeal, almost inevitable in such cases.
One can only imagine the relaxed atmosphere this will create within the organisation.
