In response to an agreement made in June 2013, the Court of Auditors has just started to audit the accounts relating to the ill-fated tram system in Vélez-Málaga which was suspended in June 2012.
The tram system cost an initial €37 million and ran at a loss from day one. Passenger numbers never reached anywhere near either the predicted totals or totals necessary to make the system even remotely viable.
The Court of Auditors will look at the investments, maintenance costs and other items relating to the period October 2006 and June 2012.
