Cayetana Fitz-James Stuart, the Duchess of Alba, failed to overcome a new health crisis and passed away today at Sevilla’s Palacio de Dueñas at the age of 88 years.
The Duchess began suffering from gastroenteritis last week and this led to a lung infection. Treatment with antibiotics appeared to be working but the Duchess suffered further problems and was admitted to the ICU in Sevilla on Sunday.
On Tuesday, after not responding to treatment, she was taken back to the Palacio de Dueñas at the express wish of her family.
