Three young girls, aged 12, 15 and 16 years, were killed on Saturday morning and two others were injured, one of them seriously, after a drunk driver ploughed into the group in Fuensalida, Toledo.
The incident occurred at 07:25 km 3,200 on the TO-3927 between Torrijos and Fuensalida. The group were walking at the side of the road when the driver of car, a 30-year-old man, ended up on the opposite carriageway and then ploughed into the group.
Three girls were killed, one is in the ICU in hospital with multiple injuries and the fifth was slightly injured. The driver of the vehicle, who tested positive for alcohol, was also slightly injured. He has been arrested. Flags in the town are flying at half mast.
