A short film entitled ‘Libre directo’, directed by sevillano Bernabé Rico, was declared winner of the Short Film Festival against Violence to Women held at the Nerja Cultural Centre on Monday evening.
Seven short films were screened and ‘Libre directo’ was voted the winner by the various women’s associations in attendance, with the prize being one hundred euros.
The film was shortlisted for an Oscar in 2012 and has been entered in hundreds of film festivals, gathering numerous awards along the way.
The film, with a humorous theme, is the story of 60-year-old Adela, played by Petra Martinez, who is subjected to ongoing psychological abuse by her husband. One day, Adela is given the chance to win €300,000 and leave her old life behind.
All she has to do is score a goal into an empty net from the centre spot in the middle of a football league match.
